Here’s what looks like a cobbled together mess, but what was done was an inexpensive repair to save a $600 laptop. This laptop had some nasty damage on the side that took out the power button. The original button
was lost and replacement parts weren’t available.
Although the repair looks a little odd the customer was very happy with the repair, he just wanted to have his laptop back in working condition.
A hardening putty was used, which actually gets tougher than steel once it’s completely cured. The switch is easy to press and works just as the original, as a momentary switch.
